With a title like Dark Places, we know not to expect a Little Golden Book. If this were a kids' book, the Pokey Little Puppy would turn rabid, or the Little Engine that Could would derail and explode. Book Review: Dark Places by Gillian Flynn Libby was seven years old when her mother and sisters were massacred, one freezing winter's night, leaving her traumatised, suffering from frost bite and believing that her brother was the murderer/5(K).

Dark Places is a book capable of leaving a nasty aftertaste and vague uncomfortable feeling for days after finishing it. I strongly suspect it is its Lesson learned # 1: Gillian Flynn is excellent at creating unpleasant characters and disturbing situations/5. Dark Places truly is about the dark places in our minds.

None of its characters are particularly likeable. Even the key protagonist has to grow on the reader. And yet, I found myself returning to the book more often and more quickly than any I have read since I read the Stieg Larsson Lisbeth Salander trilogy/5(K).

Places in the Dark is a suspenseful, compelling page turner that keeps you off balance throughout the entire book. From Amazon "In the fall ofa mysterious woman, Dora March, steps off the bus in the small seaside town of Port Alma, Maine and enters the lives of two brothers: Cal, who always leads with his head and William, who always /5(54).

The sole survivor of a family massacre is pushed into revisiting a past she’d much rather leave alone, in Flynn’s scorching follow-up to Sharp Objects (). On a January night inMichelle Day, ten, was strangled, her nine-year-old sister, Debby, killed with an ax, and their mother, Patty, stabbed, hacked and shot to death in the family : Gillian Flynn.

DARK PLACES was written by Gillian Flynn before she wrote her smash success GONE GIRL. Although the two books are different, DARK PLACES is every bit as good as GONE GIRL, and I encourage you to read it.

It's a five-star book. This book begins with a declaration by one main character that will interest you right away/5(17). SuperSummary, a modern alternative to SparkNotes and CliffsNotes, offers high-quality study guides that feature detailed chapter summaries and analysis of major themes, characters, quotes, and essay topics.

This one-page guide includes a plot summary and brief analysis of Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. Dark Places, a mystery by Gillian Flynn published indeals with class. With My Dark Places, Ellroy so intensely describes his mother, Jean, that she is as real to me as someone I knew intimately.I think, in fact, that "intimate" describes this entire book.

Rather than give away any of the story, let me just say that this book is as intimate as a dark night's sexual encounter with someone is one of 5/5(5).

Directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner. With Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, Chloë Grace Moretz. Libby Day was only eight years old when her family was brutally murdered in their rural Kansas farmhouse.

Almost thirty years later, she reluctantly agrees to revisit the crime and uncovers the wrenching truths that led up to that tragic night/10(K). Dark Places is a book that will keep you intrigued.

Halfway through the book, I guessed who the killer could be, but did not imagine the night would go down the way it did, haunting and bloody. Dark and messy.

A must read for mystery lovers/5(K). Gillian Flynn's books can be frustrating at the best of times, but the ending of Dark Places truly annoyed me. I've never come so close to throwing a book across the room. I'm sorry now that I ordered the film. Basically, Ben Day knew his crazy girlfriend, Diondra, had strangled his little sister to death and he went to prison to spare her jail.

Review: Dark Places by Gillian FlynnFlynn's second novel is a wonderful evocation of drab small-town life, writes Laura Wilson. Dark Places has a strong cast and bestselling source material, but none of it adds up to more than a mediocre thriller that gets tripped up on its own twists.

Total Count: %. Dark Places is a fascinating story but not a fun read. The book takes pity on no one, least of all it's readers. This truly is the stuff of nightmares, one sadistic chapter bleeding over into the next.

Although a work of fiction, Ms. Flynn's unflinching wordsmanship embues it with the realism of a true-crime whodunit. The Paperback of the In a Dark Place by Ed Warren, Lorraine Warren, Ray Garton | at Barnes & Noble.

In Dark Places Book Review Ap In Dark Places is a fascinating thriller novel by author Michael Prescott that will definitely mess with your mind and still make you more and more interested thanks to the suspenseful events that take place inside the story.Dark Places is a satisfying mystery that tells of savage desperation and sadistic cold-hearted murder.

Given the weak and bland thrillers of recent years that shy away from the truly horrifying callous of human nature, fans of the genre should be pleased.
